Extensions
Space to play
We think of our homes as static and unchanging. The stability and security of bricks and mortar, a welcome refuge from the demands of the world outside. But our homes are a reflection of our own lifestyles, and our demands on our property will change in step with the progress we make as families and individuals.
An extension, whether to add room or adjust your home’s configuration, can renovate your home without the hugely disruptive and complicated process of uprooting.
Things to Consider
Growing in-step with your family
A new bedroom, larger dining room, more preparation space in the kitchen or simply somewhere for you to find a little solitude, the demands of an expanding family bring with them fresh expectations for your home.
A major extension to your property can be compared financially with the costs of moving to a new house. The real-world savings however - limiting the disruption, remaining close to your children’s schools and your social groups - can be immeasurable.
Extending your home gives you control of the transition, and partnering with a quality architectural consultant helps you to get the most out of the added space.
Breathe life into an old property
If you’re happy with your location, but you’ve lived in the same property for a while, then perhaps your home is in need of a little modernisation.
Changing your home’s layout, creating a different dynamic - introducing greater privacy or creating a more social configuration - can renovate a home entirely. Your home can be updated by removing dividing walls, creating light and space and generating longer aspects more in step with current trends.
You don’t need to move home to find yourself a new place. An intelligently designed extension can get you there without the life-changing disruption that accompanies a new postcode.
A minor change can have a major impact
Everyone has a favourite place in their home. And whether it is the most convivial, or secluded, there are usually some aspects you wish you could add or change. A little bit more space in the kitchen, a walk-in wardrobe for your bedroom or space for a freestanding bath in your bathroom.
Introducing the space you need may not require a large-scale expansion to your home’s footprint. Sometimes all you need is an objective assessment of your home and an understanding of your needs, and those of your family.
Divine Designs is on-hand to provide that expert view, advising you on how to accommodate your needs no matter how modest or grandiose.
Think in more than just terms of square metres
Think carefully about the purpose you want your extension to serve, as this will help you define the cost and time taken to build it. The optimum way to extend your property is dependent on requirements relating plumbing, heating and ventilation, but there are other considerations.
A garden view, proximity to a bathroom or insulation from external noise are all lifestyle factors that lead into the design of an ideal extension.

Self-sufficient home in protected zone
We were asked to enhance an existing treble garage, providing a multi-use level on top, a semi-basement area accessible from the lower level, and the new level accessible from the upper floor.
Modern internal design retaining original exterior
We were asked to create a new flow for the house using the existing hallway, study and TV room, by forming an area for everyday family life. This extension had to be in keeping with the original home, while providing a modern internal approach.
