Modern Family Home With Traditional Features

We were asked to take a small out of character bungalow and provide a modern family home with traditional features and a wow factor throughout the new property.

This planning permission came through very smoothly as we had an accommodating planning officer who was willing to discuss out scheme and point out the concerns, he had so we could get the design right at the first attempt.

The original owner of the bungalow was a single gentleman who gave us his blessing and support to develop the property and was invited to view once finished, it was nice to receive his approval of what had been achieved with the developer and new owners. He knew the original bungalow was beyond repair and liked the fact the plot would be a new family home with the space require to today’s standards and expectations.

This bungalow was on a high visibility site which was clearly a point of local attention especially the name of the property being Marsden House, which we were allowed to keep and associate with the new property.

Our brief was to provide a certain footage and required rooms, which we achieved plus 25% using our approach of going large and being cut back under planning policy, in this case we proved to the planning department no cut back was required.

The construction for the time was an increased insulated timber frame with rendering to provide an energy efficient home and as can be seen by the Energy performance certificate has exceeded all requirements.
